Because of a job relocation, our family moved to western New York in the summer of 2014 from our city neighborhood in St. Louis. Having given our 7 children all the advantages and experiences of city living, we now have the opportunity to do the same with country living.
I dubbed our property Ballyhope because the first Winter we were here I slipped into a dark depression. When the Spring finally came, both literally and figuratively, I began to see the hope and possibilities of our new surroundings. Bally: is a common prefix to town names in Ireland, derived from the Gaelic phrase 'Baile na', meaning 'place of'. It reflects my Irish heritage in this land of Swedes.
